The majority of all surge-induced damage is caused by surges and spikes traveling along unprotected data lines. These surges originate from a wide variety of sources, including static charge buildup and lightning strikes. Left unprotected, your data lines expose network cards, A/V components, modems and other network equipment to damaging electrical transients. The Rack-mount ProtectNet family offers a modular approach to protecting a variety of data lines, including telephone lines, network lines, coax cables and more. Installing any combination of individual surge protection modules into either the four- or 24-position chassis and connecting them to earth ground will prevent back-door surges from ruining your productivity and costing you money.

Marketing Information

Data line surges make up an overwhelming majority of all surge induced damages where the equipment was thought to be already protected but had a back door such as a modem line unprotected. Network interface cards, in particular, can be destroyed by relatively mild spikes.

According to Ethernet standards (IEEE 802.3), non-AC network electrical hazards include Direct contact between components and power or lightning circuits, static charge buildup on cables and component, high-energy transients coupled onto the local cabling system (those induced by other cables which are installed in the general proximity of network cables or lightning within a mile radius) and potential differences (even from building to building, between safety grounds to which components are connected.)

Package Contents
  • REPLACEABLE, RACKMOUNT, 1U, RS232 SURGE PROTECTION MODULE
  • User Manual
Operating temperature (T-T)-5 - 45 °C
Storage temperature (T-T)-5 - 45 °C
